To host an SBRA jackpot your Jackpot Sanction Form must be submitted to your District Director a minimum of 4 days prior to the date you would like to host the jackpot.
The Jackpot Host must be a current SBRA member and must allow all members or permit card members the right to compete at the jackpot. Anyone competing or doing an exhibition at a SBRA jackpot must be a member of the SBRA.
There are no upfront fees to sanction a SBRA Jackpot. Hosts are required to charge a prize fund fee of $4.00 per horse/rider combination for each jackpot.
Example 1: A contestant with a Youth/Open membership entering both the Youth and Open divisions at a jackpot would be a $8 ($4 for the Youth entry and $4 for the Open entry)
Example 2: A double header jackpot where a contestant enters both jackpots on the same horse in the Open would be $8 ($4 collected for the 1st jackpot and $4 collected for the 2nd jackpot)
After your sanctioned jackpot has finished, the SBRA requires you to submit the jackpot attendance to your district director and send the prize fund fee to the SBRA, this can be done via e-transfer saskbarrelracing@gmail.com or you can mail a cheque to the office. This must be sent in within two weeks of your jackpot.
In the event that jackpot hosts do not submit their attendance and sanction fees within the 2-week deadline: Jackpot hosts will be notified that their jackpot attendance and money is past due and a fine of $50.00 will be assessed. The fine will increase by $50.00 increments for each week that it is past due.
The suggested payout for all 3D jackpots is 1D-40%, 2D-30%, 3D-30% with the ability of the host to vary the payout percentages by 5% up or down per division.
The suggested payout for all 4D jackpots 1D-35%, 2D-30%, 3D-20%, and 4D-15% with the ability of the committee to vary the payout percentages by 5% up or down per division.
Please see below for the 3D & 4D Standard Payout Schedule with number of places for each division based on the number of entries.
All monies intended for the payout must be paid out. If a hole is not filled in a D the money is split between those who did place. If there aren’t any placings in a D, the money is split between the other Ds (60/40 or 50/30/20) in the case of a 4D). *Reference the standardized payouts sheet for how many holes to pay. For example, if it was intended to pay 4 holes but there were only 2 people in the D, then you would use the percentages for 2 placings to payout that D.
Hosts may choose between the following time splits: 1 second, 7/10ths, or a 5/10th/ 1 second split.
The most frequently used is a 3D with a 1 second split. 7/10th and 5/10th splits are typically used in a 4D.
Hosts are able to use their own timing programs/attendance sheets; however the information submitted to the office for attendance must include the contestant's membership number, name, and horse name, along with the appropriate jackpot information (host name, jackpot date, district, ect.)
